Hon-gold Emperor Jito's "Emperor MochitoGold leaf shell-matching

This is a gold shell-matching work, painted one by one by a traditional craftsman.

It is paired with a haiku by Emperor Jito, "Spring has passed, summer has come, and Hakumyo no koromo hosutefu, Kaguyama in heaven.

Clam shells are paired with each other, and only two open pairs of clam shells fit together perfectly. Therefore, they are a symbol of conjugal bliss.
