Calligrapher Hiroharu Masunaga

Born in Omiya City, Saitama Prefecture.

He studied under Shunso Machi, a female calligrapher, from childhood, and became independent in 1986, when his trademark "Run Sumi," a fusion of calligraphy and painting, was registered. He has received numerous awards, and many of his works are in public collections such as museums. He has participated in more than 80 exhibitions in Japan and abroad, including in Australia (Sydney, Melbourne), France, the United States (New York), Italy (Rome, Parma), the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Germany (Berlin), and Algeria. In recent years, he has been actively holding workshops on the theme of "sumi," which expresses traditional Japanese culture.
