POP-UP & folding fan workshops at 2 stores in Paris, Ibasen.
Ibasen will hold two simultaneous POP-UP stores in Paris, France, as well as a workshop to experience painting folding fan.
The long-established folding fan and round fan shop, Ibasen, which has been in business since the Edo period, will make its debut in Paris. During the Edo period, Ibasen was the publisher of popular Ukiyo-e artists such as Toyokuni Utagawa, Kuniyoshi, and Hiroshige. We will exhibit and sell traditional Ukiyo-e patterns from those days as well as modern new works.
At this POP-UP store, "DEJIMA" will introduce mainly modern Edo fan designs, and "Adeline KLAM" will introduce mainly traditional Ukiyo-e and Edo patterns folding fan, each with a different world view. with different views of the world. In addition, through workshops in which participants actually paint on folding fan, the attraction of Japanese craftsmanship will be communicated in a hands-on manner.

Shikebiki fan
These fans feature traditional Edo-period colors brought to life through the skillful craftsmanship of artisans. The washi paper is dyed directly with natural dyes, and the fan surfaces are hand-painted with fine lines by skilled artisans.
Persimmon-Tannin folding fan
This product is made by squeezing the juice from astringent persimmons and allowing it to ferment and age. In Japan, this persimmon tannin has long been used as a paint, dye, and all-purpose folk remedy.
When applying this natural persimmon tannin, we use a new technology that filters out and eliminates its distinctive odor.It has no astringent odor, maintains the same strength as conventional paper, and is water-repellent. It is finished with a side lacquer coating—made from natural lacquer—which further enhances its durability.
