Ibasen will hold two simultaneous POP-UP stores in Paris, France, as well as a workshop to experience painting folding fan.
The long-established folding fan and round fan shop, Ibasen, which has been in business since the Edo period, will make its debut in Paris. During the Edo period, Ibasen was the publisher of popular Ukiyo-e artists such as Toyokuni Utagawa, Kuniyoshi, and Hiroshige. We will exhibit and sell traditional Ukiyo-e patterns from those days as well as modern new works.
At this POP-UP store, "DEJIMA" will introduce mainly modern Edo fan designs, and "Adeline KLAM" will introduce mainly traditional Ukiyo-e and Edo patterns folding fan, each with a different world view. with different views of the world. In addition, through workshops in which participants actually paint on folding fan, the attraction of Japanese craftsmanship will be communicated in a hands-on manner.

The traditional colors of Edo are hand painted by craftsmen. Japanese paper is dyed directly with dyestuffs, and the fan surface is hand-painted with fine lines by skilled craftsmen.

Astringent persimmons are pressed, fermented and matured.
In Japan, persimmon tannin has long been used as a paint, dye, and all-purpose folk medicine.
We use a new technology that filters out the unique smell of the natural persimmon tannin when it is applied. There is no astringent odor, the paper is as strong as before, and it also repels water. It is also made with a side of lacquer, which is also natural, making it even stronger.
