Fugaku Sanjurokkei Hokusai "Kanagawa-oki Namiura

Kanagawa-oki Namiura" is the first picture in Katsushika Hokusai's famous ukiyoe set "Fugaku Sanjurokkei" (Thirty-six views of Mt. Fuji), a large horizontal nishiki-e print. The composition, in which a glimpse of Mt. Fuji in the distance is seen through the undulating waves, can be seen in every detail as a component of a logarithmic spiral that is folded over and over again, and is known as one of the three major works of art along with "Triumphant Wind and Fine Weather" and "Yamashita White Rain.

Kanagawa Okinamiura" is a masterpiece by Hokusai. The huge waves, three boats, and Mt. Fuji in the background are depicted in small size to contrast with the dynamic grandeur of the full scene of the waves. The passengers on the boats are depicted being rocked by the waves, giving the viewer a sense of the dynamic power of the giant waves in this large painting.

Fugaku Sanjurokkei Hokusai "Triumphant and Clear" Red Fuji

Triumphant Weather" is one of the 46 pictures in Katsushika Hokusai's famous ukiyoe set "Fugaku Sanjurokkei (Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji)," and is also known as "Akafuji. The scenery depicted in this large-format nishikie is known as one of the "Three Major Ukiyoe" along with Kanagawa Okinamiura and Yamashita Shirasame.

This dynamic work depicts a large frontal view of Mt. Fuji with a sea of trees in the lower left of the screen and sardine clouds in the background. The snow-covered mountain peak is contrasted by the white on top of the red Fuji, emphasizing the boldness of the mountain.
