Ukiyoe Hiroshige Tonegawa

The Ukiyoe Edo fan paintings (nishikie, Yamato-type) were produced by the publisher Ibasen using multicolor prints by master printmakers Hiroshige and Kuniyoshi, who were descended from the Utagawa school.

It is a scene of the quiet Tone River on a moonlit night with flocks of geese flying. The quiet scene of the Tone River without flowers or autumn leaves gives a sense of "wabi and sabi" (quietness and peacefulness).
